About erectile dysfunction (ED)

1. Oral medicines:

  2. Tadalafil (Cialis)
  3. Avanafil (Stendra)
  4. Vardenafil (Staxyn, Levitra)

A group of medications called a PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase-5) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting this enzyme allowing muscles of blood vessels in penis region to relax. The relaxed muscles then allow increase in blood flow to the penis. This results into erection of penis for a particular duration of time during sexual activity.

There are side-effects may include headache, vision changes, flushing, and upset stomach.

2. Injections

Oral medication does not work for everybody and to obtain an erection, one or a combination of medicines can be injected directly into the penis. Alprostadil, phentolamine and papaverine are the most common medications that are injected into the side or base of the penis. Your specialist can instruct you to use the injections yourself at home.

4. Vacuum pumps

Men with low testosterone ED may be subjected to testosterone therapy. Testosterone is available in various forms, including gels, patches, oral tablets, and solutions for injection. Moodiness, acne, and prostate growth may be the side effects.
